The Purves Environmental Fund (PEF) supported the writing and promotion of The Weather Makers, including a high-profile launch event and billboard advertisements outside of Qantas business lounges. The book became a catalytic force in the Australian climate change debate at the time, helping to raise awareness and understanding of impacts and solutions.
Following on the success of the book, an updated and condensed version targeted to young adults, We are the Weather Makers, was published, and the PEF supported WWF-Australia distribute copies of the book to all secondary schools in Australia and with its promotion.
The following year, the PEF supported the production of educational resource on climate change based on the second book, Thinking About Climate Change, which were also distributed to all secondary schools in Australia.
